The Intermediate / Standard First Aid & CPR C Recertification course is a Canadian Red Cross renewal course for participants who currently hold a valid Intermediate/Standard First Aid & CPR C certificate and need to renew it before expiry.

This condensed in-person course reviews essential First Aid, CPR and AED skills and confirms that participants can continue to respond safely and effectively to workplace emergencies.

Duration

7.5 hours in class

The recertification course is delivered fully in person. A blended recertification option is no longer available for Standard First Aid.

Prerequisite

Participants must provide proof of a current, valid Intermediate/Standard First Aid certification from a Canadian Red Cross-recognized national training agency.

The certificate must still be valid at the time of recertification.

Completion Requirements

Participants must:

• Attend and participate in 100% of the course

• Successfully demonstrate required First Aid and CPR skills and critical steps

• Achieve a minimum grade of 75% on the written knowledge evaluation

Certification

Upon successful completion, participants receive a new Canadian Red Cross Intermediate First Aid & CPR C/AED certification, valid for 3 years.

• Check, Call, Care

• Airway emergencies

• Breathing and circulation emergencies

• CPR and AED

• Respiratory and cardiac arrest

• Wound care

• Head, neck and spinal injuries

• Bone, muscle and joint injuries

• Sudden medical emergencies

• Environmental emergencies

• Poisoning and opioid poisoning awareness

Important: If your current certificate has already expired, you will need to complete the full Intermediate / Standard First Aid & CPR C course instead of the recertification course.
