Basic / Emergency First Aid and CPR C Course - In Person

The Basic / Emergency First Aid and CPR C course is a one-day Canadian Red Cross workplace First Aid and CPR certification course. The course curriculum meets the requirements of federal and provincial authorities having jurisdiction over workplace first aid training and meets the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Z1210 standard for Basic First Aid training.
In British Columbia, the Canadian Red Cross Basic First Aid and CPR C/AED certification is accepted by WorkSafeBC as Basic First Aid, formerly known as Occupational First Aid Level 1 (OFA 1). The course includes current Canadian First Aid, CPR and AED guidelines and provides participants with practical hands-on training for responding to common workplace and everyday emergencies.
Duration
Basic / Emergency First Aid & CPR C: 7 hours in class
This is an instructor-led, hands-on course where participants practise First Aid, CPR and AED skills throughout the training.
Completion Requirements
To successfully complete the course and receive certification, participants must:
Attend and participate in 100% of the in-person course
Successfully demonstrate the required First Aid and CPR skills and critical steps
Demonstrate an understanding of the appropriate emergency response procedures
Achieve a minimum grade of 75% on the written knowledge evaluation
Certification
Upon successful completion, participants receive an official Canadian Red Cross Basic First Aid and CPR C/AED certification, valid for 3 years.
The certificate is issued electronically through the Canadian Red Cross certification system and emailed to the participant after successful completion of the course.
Canadian Red Cross Basic / Emergency First Aid & CPR C also offers a 5-hour in-person recertification course where recertification is permitted. Participants must hold an eligible current certification to attend a recertification course. Workplace renewal requirements may vary by province and jurisdiction.

Airway emergencies
Breathing and circulation emergencies
First Aid for respiratory and cardiac arrest
CPR C for adults, children and infants
Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use
Wound care
Additional First Aid content required by applicable provincial or federal workplace requirements
